At the assignment of the customer, Transneft Central Siberia, JSC, the Company’s professionals elaborated a 300+ km logistics chain. Cargo delivery by water transport, from the river port of Tomsk to the temporary storage warehouse at Pervomaika oil pump station located in Kolpashevo District, Tomsk Region, was arranged for. For these purposes, five tug/barge towing arrangements were used. Over 6,800 tons of pipe products were transported by barges during 4 months. A great part of the cargo transportation route lied on the Ob and the Tom rivers.
“River transport was the quickest and the most economically efficient in this case. Also, when the process scheme of pipe transportation to Pervomaika OPS was elaborated, the particular features of local navigational directions were taken into account and the most suitable point of cargo transshipment from barges to motor transport was selected, which saved the customer’s time and money,” noted Sergey Sokolovsky, Head of Transport Logistics Division, Transneft-Logistics, LLC.
Moreover, the enterprise avoided the intermediate storage stage, by ensuring transshipment of pipes between the rail, water and motor transport, which was also positive for the cost of cargo delivery. Employees of Sokur Commodity and Commerce Department of Transneft, JSC, who implemented visual and measurement control, were in charge of preservation of pipes at all cargo handling stages, according to Transneft, JSC regulations.
The experience in river transportation will enable Transneft-Logistics, LLC to efficiently model transportation of materials and equipment for Transneft, JSC entities in the future.
