Successful startup of the Kaluga Turbine Works’ equipment was completed at the Northern TPP (Estonia)

Ноября 16, 2015

A 27 MW turbine manufactured by the Kaluga Turbine Works (KTW) (part of the Power Machines power engineering company) has been put into operation at the Northern TPP in Kohtla-Järve (Estonia) after 72-hour testing.

The turbine was manufactured according to a contract with Ekobana (Lithuania) and is the second power machine delivered by the KTW to the Northern TPP. The previous turbine was made in 2008 and put into operation in 2011 as part of plant renovation.

Machine vibration following the installation and commissioning was four to five times less than the allowable limit.

«Vibration is an indicator of machine assembly quality,» – explains Gennady Golobokov, KTW Chief Designer. –«A poorly installed or overhauled turbine will use much fuel, while equipment with low vibration not only uses less fuel but can also be operated for up to 15 years without requiring an overhaul.»
