More than 350 mn Cubic Metres of Gas were Extracted at the Shakhpaty Field

Января 07, 2016

Since the beginning of 2015, extraction of natural gas at the Shakhpaty field in North-eastern Uzbekistan has totalled more than 350 million cubic metres, i.e. 20 million m3 more than last year’s production.

This year, Gazprom International’s specialists increased the existing number of wells at the field to 24 units; average daily extraction exceeds 1 million cubic metres.

Aggregate extraction at the field since 2004 now exceeds 3.2 billion cubic metres.

Shakhpaty is a gas field at the South-eastern Ustyurt plateau in the territory of Kungrad district of the Republic of Karakalpakstan in Uzbekistan, discovered in 1962. During the period of use from 1971 to 2002, 36.5 billion cubic metres of gas was produced from the field, i.e. 79% of the initially approved deposits. At the moment, the estimated recoverable reserves in Shakhpaty total approx. 8 billion cubic metres.

Reconstruction and additional development of Shakhpaty is a pilot project of Gazprom International in the Republic of Uzbekistan, implemented in accordance with the Production Sharing Agreement signed in 2004, which is valid for 15 years.

Since 2004, works relating to the capital repairs of wells and extraction of raw materials have been performed under the licence for the development of four productive layers of the field.

Gas produced at Shakhpaty is delivered to the Karakalpakskay compressor station, and then to consumers via the Central Asia - Centre pipeline.
