Under classification of the Urban Planning Code of the Russian Federation, the dedicated crossing is a unique facility, as exemplified by its technical features: 125-meter-high crossover supports, with the span length of 2,065 meters, and a 240-meter elevation difference between the banks of the Angara river at the crossing location.
The dedicated crossing has been constructed in the scope of the “Kuyumba – Taishet oil trunk pipeline. External power supply to PEPS No. 1, PS No. 2, and PS. No. 3” project. Two separate 110 kV overhead transmission lines will be constructed to ensure reliable power supply to the oil trunk pipeline facilities, which requires four crossover supports.
Special requirements apply to the cable, due to huge span length, and weather conditions in the dedicated crossing area. The domestically-manufactured high temperature cable with higher mechanical strength versus the traditional steel-reinforced aluminium cable will be used in the OTL construction.
Erecting the dedicated crossing commenced in April 2015. When making the foundation, ninety-six 11-meter-long piles were installed under each of the 125-meter-long support, followed by building a 500 m3 concrete grillage. Support assembly started last September; a special vehicle, a truck-mounted crane with extended boom and a capacity of 400 tons, was used to handle supports of such size. Completion of the construction and installation operations at the dedicated crossing over the Angara river is expected in March 2016.
