The audit was also observed by experts from Finland's Radiation and Nuclear Safety Authority STUK.
The auditors reviewed documentation and scrutinized the production processes in use. The modus operandi of the manufacturer's quality management system was introduced to the representatives of the Finnish party in various details from contract-making and interfacing with suppliers to final product inspection and testing. Special attention was given to the safety culture aspect.
On the whole, the audit went off in the spirit of openness and cooperation. As it is stated in the audit report, the existing production capacities of Petrozavodskmash present an all-purpose suite of modern production equipment, and the production and project management system presented is provided with comprehensive means of planning and control of various production stages and related types of resource. A number of recommendations are also given with regard to safety culture improvements.
