Record Production Rate Obtained from the Vereisky Horizon

Almost half of the remaining recoverable TATNEFT Company’s crude oil reserves are concentrated in carboniferous reservoirs, most of which are located in the Vereisky horizon. A traditional well production rate varies from 1 to 4 tonnes.

It was the first experience in Tatarstan when one well of the marginal Vereisky horizon demonstrated a ten-fold production rate increase of a vertical well without fracturing. Such a production rate has been achieved through application of the multi-stage fracturing technology.

A horizontal wellbore multi-frac operation of a small diameter well, including five intervals, was carried out in well No. 4777 of Novo-Elkhovskoye field of NGDU "Elkhovneft".

The initiative group, consisting of the experts of the Company’s Executive Office, GTM Center and NGDU "EN" had proposed and justified performance of 5-stage acid fracturing. The group had performed site selection, defined the well direction, selected the well’s special design, the core composition analysis and selected chemicals for drilling with multistage fracturing of the horizontal wellbore. There were innovations in the well’s implemented in the hydraulic fracturing design at each of the fracturing work stages, well completion and final testing.

Based on the results of the experimental work the experts consider replication of the technology developed by professionals of TATNEFT Company in other areas of Vereisky horizon.
