Current defueling rate achieved is 25-27 SFA per week. INPP takes all possible actions in order to facilitate the defueling. With the renewal of defueling INPP gets closer to achieving previously set goals in both decommissioning and safety spheres.
After the obtainment of a permit issued by VATESI in May 2017, INPP has started industrial operation of the Interim Spent Fuel Storage Facility (ISFSF). At the beginning of industrial operation of the Storage Facility it contained ten (10) protective containers CONSTOR RBMK1500/M2 loaded at the Units and placed for storage at ISFSF in the course of implementation of the Programme of Hot Trials of B1 facility. 3 containers were loaded and placed for storage in October – December 2016 and 7 containers were placed in January – April 2017.
9 protective containers have been placed to the Facility since the beginning of the industrial operation. Execution of works foreseen by B1 Facility Hot Trials and Industrial Operation Programmes has proved on practice that equipment of the Facility could ensure safe and successful performance of the entire scope of works related to loading, transportation, welding, and placement for storage of CONSTOR RBMK1500/M2 containers as well as maintenance of the container removal rate established in the B1 project.
The anticipated number of containers to be loaded and placed for storage at ISFSF within the year 2017 is equal to 36.
