Second Phase of Project on Fukushima Daiichi NPP Debris Properties Research Is Completed

Апреля 09, 2019

The results of this project are expected to contribute to the accident recovery works at Fukushima Daiichi NPP.

TENEX has successfully completed the works under the “Development of Technologies for Grasping and Analyzing Properties of Fuel Debris (Estimation of Aging Properties of Fuel Debris)” project in March 2019 with the support of V. G. Khlopin Radium Institute, Research Institute of Atomic Reactors (JSC «SSC RIAR») and Institute of Geology, Ores, Mineralogy and Geochemistry of Russian Academy of Science (IGEM). The project is performed by the funds from Japanese government as The Subsidy Program and managed by Mitsubishi Research Institute, Inc., Japan.

The outcomes achieved in the second phase of the research and development project include obtaining experimental data, developing a projection model of ageing properties of the active model samples of Fukushima Daiichi NPP fuel debris and preparing recommendations for the development of technological systems for handling fuel debris onsite, from a view point of fuel ageing.
