According to Andrei Okhotkin, Sakhalin Energy Commercial Director, despite the strict measures imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic, the products are shipped and transported according as per the approved schedule.

And we benefit greatly from the proximity to the Asia-Pacific countries," says Andrey Okhotkin.
"Sakhalin Energy continuously monitors the situation unfolding in the key markets, evaluates existing risks and develops preventive and corrective measures, which, thanks to the coordinated and cohesive work of the Sakhalin-2 project team, allow us to ensure continuity of production process and uninterrupted supply of products amidst the coronavirus pandemic.
Asia-Pacific countries are the main buyer of Sakhalin LNG. In 2020 (as of 1 October), the most aggressive buyers of liquefied natural gas produced at the LNG plant are Japan (50%), Taiwan (21%), South Korea (15%) and China (14%).
The LNG plant at Prigorodnoye production complex was launched in 2009, being Russia’s first liquefied natural gas plant at the time. Gas is delivered to LNG plant from offshore platforms located northeast to the island, via a pipeline, over 800 km long. One standard LNG cargo equals 65,000 tonnes of liquefied natural gas.
