Both facilities are situated in the north-eastern part of Sakhalin, near the landfall of the marine gas pipeline fr om the Lunskoye offshore platform. The OPFC construction project, being a part of the onshore processing facility, is implemented to compensate dropping pressure at wellheads of gas production wells.
According to Igor Shabanov, Head of Construction Subdivision, inclusion of the new production facility in the integrated gas chain will ensure its smooth commissioning in the future.
During the construction and repair activities, 13 pipe tie-ins were installed to redirect process fluid and gas flows to the OPFC. A full range of safety measures was applied in the process of depressurization of equipment and welding operations. It included pressure release, hydrocarbon removal and provision of an inert atmosphere, installation of seals for guaranteed isolation as well as continuous monitoring of the gas environment during the performance of work.
One of the critical tasks performed in preparation for the integration was construction and commissioning of the OPFC battery lim it station (BLS).
“It includes all stop valves required to block pipeline sections,” said Igor Shabanov. “Now we would be able to direct hydrocarbons to the OPFC by simple turn of the valve.”
According to Denis Lutsev, Onshore Assets Manager of Sakhalin Energy, the OPFC construction project is important to maintain the efficiency of industrial development of the Lunskoye field.
“The company's planning horizon spans decades and Sakhalin Energy is already thinking about the future to ensure the reliable fulfilment of all obligations to stakeholders and expand the project capacity,” Denis Lutsev said.
