Coordinating Council meeting between Gazprom and E.ON Ruhrgas AG held

Novy Urengoy hosted today the fifth meeting of the Coordinating Council between Gazprom and E.ON Ruhrgas AG on sci-tech cooperation, personnel training and career development.

The meeting was held at the headquarters of Gazprom dobycha Urengoy, a subsidiary company of Gazprom.
The meeting was moderated by the Council Co-Chairmen: Vlada Rusakova, Member of the Management Committee, Head of the Strategic Development Department of Gazprom; Henning Deters, Member of the Board of Management, Chief Sales Officer of E.ON Ruhrgas AG; and Armin Geiss, Member of the Board of Management, Chief Human Resources Officer of E.ON Ruhrgas.
The meeting participants delivered speeches on the implementation of sci-tech cooperation programs, personnel training and career development in 2009. The parties expressed satisfaction over the achieved results and discussed proposals on interaction for the 2010–2011 period. It was also noted that energy-efficient technologies creation and application was a prioritized area for the joint projects of Gazprom and E.ON Ruhrgas AG.
Special attention was paid to the progress in implementing the joint project of Gazprom promgaz and E.ON Ruhrgas AG aimed at studying the prospects for replacing coal and liquid fuel with natural gas in the town of Kolpashevo, Tomsk Oblast. The European Business Congress and the UN Economic Commission for Europe act as sponsors for the project.
The meeting will result in the issuance of recommendations on efficient energy utilization and socioeconomic improvement in Russian small towns.
On February 19, the Coordinating Council participants will visit gas condensate facility No.2 of the Urengoy Gas Production Directorate, Gazprom dobycha Urengoy.
The UN Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) is one of the five regional commissions of the United Nations Organization. It was set up in 1947 by the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) to foster economic activities and to strengthen economic ties among its member countries. The Energy Efficiency-21 program being implemented by UNECE assists Southeast Europe, East Europe and the CIS in increasing energy efficiency, reducing the fuel deficit arisen during the transition period, as well as meeting the international treaty obligations related to environmental protection.
In 2006 Gazprom and the Tomsk Oblast Administration decided to create a demonstration zone for highly efficient gas utilization in the town of Kolpashevo.
In July 2008, within the Energy Efficiency-21 program, Gazprom promgaz and UNECE made a contract to study the influence of coal and liquid fuel substitution with natural gas on energy utilization efficiency in the Kolpashevo District, Tomsk Oblast.
