Balakovo nuclear power plant is ready for passing of high water

Марта 22, 2010

Such conclusion is made on the basis of analysis of reports by subdivisions about execution of «Plan of measures for preparing of objects of Balakovo NPP for trouble-free functioning for the period of passing of high water of 2010», which was given effect by order of director of the nuclear power plant.

The plan is developed by specially established anti-flood commission supervised by chief engineer Valery Bessonov. It comprises 24 subdivisions of Balakovo NPP – owners of buildings and constructions, as well as subdivisions that provide supply of necessary material and technical resources.
Like in the previous years, the main measure on preparing for the high water is snow removal from territory of the plant. Besides, operability is checked out and if necessary repairing of surface and subterranean waters drainages system from the entire territory of the plant is performed - drainages, ditches, catch water drains, etc., on results of inspections removal of snow and ice from roofs and blind areas of buildings and constructions of the NPP, overhead covers and hatches of heat chambers with melt waters drainage, fuel supply lines wells, railroad facilities, as well as roads and equipment of ORU is carried out.
According to accumulation, snow is withdrawn from road along the route «Ring – NPP», from the roads inside the plant site, equipment basis and territory of storage facilities, as well as from approaches to fire hydrants. On weekly basis, inspection of the territory of the nuclear power plant is carried out and measures are taken for prevention of underflooding with melt and flood water, as well as pollution of the territory with oil products. For the period of the high water, for the period of high water, rounds of the places where appearing of subterranean and flood waters is possible are arranged.
It is necessary to note that at development of the project of Balakovo nuclear power plant all possible adverse hydro-meteorological conditions were taken into account which are received at studying of statistical data for the recent 50 and more years.
