TNK-BP Continues to Introduce Advanced Technologies at Its Refineries

The Refinery has built up necessary stocks of oil products to ensure that customers will see no disruptions to their requirements.
The turnaround will involve mainly the primary oil processing unit, the thermal cracker, the catalytic reformer and other units. Particular attention will be devoted to maintenance works on the hydrotreater which was upgraded in 2008 to produce Euro-5 standard diesel with a sulfur content of 10 ppm, and the distillation tower where modern anti--corrosion technology (known as “sacrificial protection”) will be applied for the first time. During this turnaround, not only 35 significant equipments will be replaced but 12 investment projects will also be implemented.
“This turnaround marks a serious step towards the increase of time intervals between turnaround from two to three years. To successfully move towards bigger interval, TNK-BP plans to continue applying innovatory technologies to its refining system. This is particularly vital for Ryazan Refinery as it is already one of the most advanced in Russia. Based on our previous turnaround successes, the refinery and its contractors will continue paying special attention to safety and health issues and looking for further improvements”, stated Didier Baudrand, Executive Vice President, Downstream and Executive Director of TNK-BP.
