The refurbishment activities are performed under the scope of Yantar project which if part of Diadema priority investment program implemented by IES-Holding.
The first stage of refurbishment of turbine generator set No. 1 at Sormovskaya CHPP was finalized in 2008. The outcome featured replacement of the main steam line of the power generation unit No. 1, wrapping of the generator stator, PND-4 low pressure pre-heater. In December 2008, the turbine generator set was put into operation and has successfully operated during the heating seasons of 2008/2009 and 2009/2010.
The final stage of refurbishment of turbine generator set No. 1 includes full replacement or refurbishment of assemblies of the turbine generator set including the most complicated one - high pressure cylinder. During the refurbishment, the turbine generator set will be equipped with the latest automatic process control system.
In 2009, the similar refurbishment of turbine generator set No. 2 at Sormovskaya CHPP was performed under the auspices of Yantar investment project.
Implementation of Yantar investment project will enable to increase the installed capacity of Sormovskaya CHPP by 10 MW - to 350 MW, as well as to reduce unit production costs of electric and heat energy, and to reduce pollutants emissions. The total investment in the refurbishment of two turbine generator sets of Sormovskaya CHPP will amount to RUB 1 billion.
"The decision to perform this refurbishment initiative was made because the turbine generator sets Nos. 1 and 2 which were commissioned in 1970s have practically exhausted their service life. After this refurbishment the sets will be able to successfully and efficiency operate for the next 25-30 years. The use of modern energy saving technologies will help increase energy efficiency and reliability of energy supplies to the consumers of Nizhny Novgorod Region" - says Aleksandr Kolokoltsev, Vice President of IES-Holding and Head of the Generation Center Division.
