Rostov NPP: at power unit No. 2 partner inspection of WAO NPP finished successfully

For two weeks, atomists from Armenia, Belgium, Bulgaria, India, Iran, Russia, USA, Czech Republic and Ukraine inspected technical condition of power unit No. 2 for meeting of reliability and safety requirements. «We are satisfied with the results», – declared head of group of international experts Yaroslav Vokurek. He also reported that at Rostov NPP much positive experience is accumulated in various spheres of work. «We will analyze and distribute the experience, promote its implementation at the nuclear power plants with which we cooperate», – emphasized Yaroslav Vokurek.   
The experts also inspected quality of the work of power unit No.2 staff by such main lines as: management efficiency, operation, repairs, engineering support, maintenance, radiation protection, training and qualification. At that they noted atmosphere of maximum openness established at this nuclear plant, as well as fruitful and close interaction with specialists of the NPP which facilitated achievement of the goals set for the team.
In his turn, chief engineer of the plant Andrey Salnikov thanked representatives of WAO NPP for work, as well as for full and correct understanding of tasks and goals which were resolved by international experts at the enterprise. He assured that results of the inspection will be considered thoroughly, studied and transferred in the nearest future to management of JSC «Concern Rosenergoatom».
According to regulations of WAO NPP, partner inspections at nuclear power plants are voluntary and performed at functioning power units once in six years and at power units under commissioning, during the startup period. Performing of partner inspections at pre-starting power units is practical assistance of WAO experts. It is performed to implement tested patterns of positive international practice in various production areas at the pre-commissioning works stage.
Volgodonsk (Rostov) NPP is branch of JSC «Concern Rosenergoatom». The nuclear power plant is located on the bank of Tsimlyansk water storage 13.5 km away from Volgodonsk. On power unit No.1 put into industrial operation in 2001, VVER-1000 type reactor is operated with designed electric output of 1000 MW. In December of 2009 first criticality of power unit No. 2 with the same type rector was carried out. At power unit No.2 program of energy startup and capacity achievement is being performed. Construction of power units No. 3 and 4 is started.
