Ukraine this year will increase purchase of the Russian gas

The parties addressed the implementation of long-term purchase and sale contracts signed between NAK Naftogaz Ukrainy and Gazprom.
Based on the meeting results an accord was reached on raising the annual amount of natural gas contracted for 2010 from 33.75 to 36.5 billion cubic meters in order to secure reliable gas transit to European consumers during the winter period.
Thus, taking into account the actual supplies in the first quarter, the amount of gas contracted by NAK Naftogaz Ukrainy for the period from April to December 2010 will grow to 30 billion cubic meters.
On January 19, 2009 Gazprom and NAK Naftogaz Ukrainy singed two separate contracts: the purchase and sale contract for the period from 2009 through to 2019; the contract on volumes, terms and conditions of natural gas transit across Ukraine for the period from 2009 through to 2019.
On November 24, 2009 Gazprom and NAK Naftogaz Ukrainy signed addenda to the natural gas purchase and sale contract, according to which the annual gas quantity contracted for 2010 was decreased to 33.75 billion cubic meters.
