According to the terms of the contract concluded for the period from 2012 till 2017, two initial core charges and five realoads for each unit will be supplied.
The upgraded fuel with uranium of higher enrichment will be supplied to the Slovak nuclear power units. This enrichment gives an added value owing to higher burnup and less make-up fuel assemblies. The possibility of supplying the up-to-date fuel is conditioned by an investment resource which would be formed due to long-term fuel supplies.
In addition, under the contract, the Russian side offers a set of associated services as well as options for rendering the power units operable at higher thermal power etc.
The signing of the contract has become a continuation of the long-term and mutually beneficial cooperation between Russia and Slovakia in provision of the Russian fuel to operating units. Uninterruptible supplies of reliable and safe fuel were the key ground for broadening of the cooperation, which has been based on mutual trust for a long time.
Russia and Slovakia have a great potential and possibilities for the deepening and broadening the interaction, including, in the framework of new projects. The reforms which are carried out in the Russian nuclear industry and associate with the setting up the Fuel Company on the basis of JSC TVEL open additional advantages for foreign partners.
