The problem of reconstruction and upgrading the technical level of equipment at operating hydraulic electrical power stations is pressing as of today and requires a package approach. Offering a detailed analysis of each of directions in reconstruction, Shamil Abubakirov noted the importance of compliance with the basic requirements during the work on modernization of hydraulic turbine equipment: ensuring tight deadlines of reconstruction without a lengthy outage of the existing generating capacity; ensuring enhancement of turbine capacitance with the new runner and preclusion of reduction of the new runner efficiency factor as compared to pre-reconstruction parameters.
“One can gain a maximum effect only after a comprehensive survey of the operating energy equipment at a hydraulic power plant and after a justification of the optimum alternative for its modernization” – Shamil Abubakirov stated.
It is for the first time this year that Russia Power, besides the already traditional technical and strategic directions, presented the brand new direction dedicated solely to hydro power engineering, construction of dams and civil projects – HydroVision 2010. The new direction was purposefully singled out as a special block in the conference – being among the world leaders in production of hydro electric power, Russia still leaves undeveloped about four-fifth of its hydro energy potential. Hydropower engineering program of the conference was compiled by an international expert committee headed by HRW magazine publisher, Penn Well Corporation (organizer of Russia Power) and chairman of international conference HydroVision.
In the framework of HydroVision, Shamil Abubakirov also presented a report devoted to “Experience in application of reversible variable speed hydraulic units in projects of JSC “Institute Hydroproject” and prospects of usage of induction generators for the planned hydraulic power plants”.
