The throughput of the pipeline is 3 billion cu m of gas a year. Its length is about 200 kilometers. Turkmengaz (Turkmenian Gas) State Concern is the customer for the Project.
When talking to journalists, G. Skidanov explained that ITERA had signed a Pipeline Construction Agreement in respect of the gas pipeline lineal part, last May. He said that over 1.5 thousand workers had been involved in the construction already in December.
"At this point in time, the lineal part of the gas pipeline is complete. Construction of a high voltage transmission line and facilities of fiber-optic communication is near completion. I think we shall commission this important gas transportation facility this June to add 3 billion cu m of gas to the aggregate gas production in Turkmenistan", - Skidanov said.
The Project is worth over US$ 150 million. Skidanov pointed out that a few smaller fields of hydrocarbons were discovered within the framework of the Central Kara Kum Project yet in Soviet times. Their development was not profitable then. Today, some gas is being exported to China. Moreover, the pricing tone of market has changed to make commercial development of those fields viable, - he added.
