The program will involve building and commissioning the Pokrovskaya gas compressor unit, the second train of the Zaikinskiy gas processing plant, the Tyulpan rail terminal, 6 gas compressor stations, 3 gas piston power plants and over 160 km of gas pipelines. As a result of all these measures, 29 gas flares will be extinguished in the Orenburg region.
To minimize flaring of associated gas and achieve a 95% utilization rate a set of measures were devised in 2005 to reduce the environmental footprint of OJSC Orenburgneft’s oil production facilities.
In 2007, the Gas Program was drawn up and backed by 6.7 billion roubles of funding. In 2008, following a reassessment of the program, the total investment figure increased to 18 billion roubles. Over 5 billion roubles have been invested in the Program to date.
Nine gas compressor stations with a total capacity of 578 million cu m per year have already been built and commissioned in Orenburg region under the Gas Program, making it possible to extinguish 13 gas flares. In addition, a 7.2 MW gas-fired power station and 273 km of gas pipelines have been built. Orenburgneft’s general director, Aleksandr Berman, notes that all the preparations are now in place for starting the major projects.
