The contract was signed pursuant to the decision recorded in the minutes of the sixth meeting of the Committee on Economic Cooperation of the Russian-Ukrainian Intergovernmental Commission on April 30th this year, and signed by prime ministers of both countries.
The document was signed in Kiev on June 1st by the president of the NNEGC “Energoatom” (National Nuclear Energy Generating Company) Yuri Nedashkovskiy and the president of JSC TVEL Yuri Olenin. The parties noted on the mutual benefit of the signed contract.
The cooperation between JSC TVEL and Ukraine began in 1996, when TVEL won the international tender for supplying nuclear fuel to Ukrainian NPP reactors of the VVER type. In 1997, JSC TVEL and NNEGC “Energoatom” (National Nuclear Energy Generating Company) concluded a contract for the supply of Russian nuclear fuel assemblies until 2010.
