which is intended to replace the damaged generator of the hydropower unit No. 3 at the Sayano-Shushenskaya hydropower plant.
Russia’s Prime Minister familiarized himself with technological processes of rotor frame machining work and hydrogenerator stator manufacture and got acquainted with sample hydrogenerator polar coils.
The visit included discussion of Power Machines’ strategic projects to build a new plant specializing in the manufacture of power equipment and transformer works dedicated to producing high-voltage electrical machinery. The latter is implemented in cooperation with the Federal Grid Company of Unified Energy System (FGC UES). Investments into construction of the power equipment plant’s first start-up facility amount to 6.6 bln rubles, and those into the transformer works building project – to 5.4 bln rubles. It is expected that 1,150 new jobs will be created. Construction is scheduled to be complete by mid 2012.
Works for restoration of the Sayano-Shushenskaya HPP undertaken by Power Machines comprise two main directions, i.e.: first, to urgently repair hydropower units Nos. 6, 5, 4 and 3; and, second, to manufacture and deliver new equipment.
Works to produce spare parts for turbine equipment of hydropower unit No. 3 and create a new 640 MW complete hydrogenerator intended to replace the damaged generator of the hydropower unit No. 3 are currently underway at Power Machines. A new generator is scheduled to be manufactured by July 2010.
To restore those hydropower units that suffered relatively less damage in the accident, Power Machines manufactured and delivered a full set of spare parts for repair of hydropower units Nos. 6 and 5. So far, following the repair-and-renewal operations carried out by Power Machines’ specialists, hydropower units Nos. 6 and 5 were launched into operation in February and March, respectively.
Also, work is being done to manufacture new main power equipment for restoration of all the ten hydropower units of the Sayano-Shushenskaya HPP. Within the frames of the contract, Power Machines conducted acceptance testing of a prototype hydraulic turbine for the Sayano-Shushenskaya hydropower plant. The test results have confirmed compliance of the systems to the technical design specifications as well as enhanced operational safety of the new hydraulic turbine. Power Machines’ engineers developed detailed design projects for new hydroturbines and hydrogenerators, which have been approved by the experts of RusHydro’s Research and Development Council at the meeting held in May 2010.
