According to the document the parties will examine the possibility of using Siemens equipment at the constructed experimental-industrial unit for the production of LNG, as well as the production of Siemens’ compressors, drives and electrical equipment at Russian plants. In addition, the companies will conduct research as part of work on the second and third phases of development of the Shtokman gas condensate field.

Gazprom and Siemens have been actively cooperating since 1993 within telecommunications and technology process automation projects. In particular, the companies created the Moscow digital communication zone and data transmission network of Gazprom svyaz, the automatic telephone exchange network for Gazprom transgaz Makhachkala, the communications network Gaztelecom , as well as automated the comprehensive gas treatment unit at the Yamburg field.
On April 3, 2008 Gazprom and Siemens AG signed the Agreement on Strategic Partnership. At the moment, Gazprom and Siemens are developing their cooperation in the following directions: innovation development, automation, IT, telemechanics and telecommunications; power generation; compressor station equipment; offshore oil & gas field development technologies; facility and building security systems; energy saving and environmental protection; novel medical technologies; project financing.
