Project implementation started in May 2010. The project is expected to be finished in the shortest possible time thanks to efficient teamwork, the support from the local authorities, and the existing production subdivisions in the territory of project execution. Main activities for construction and installation of all power distribution facilities for energy block No. 4 of the Kalinin nuclear power plant will start simultaneously in the nearest future.
At present, design works for HV-750 kV Kalinin NPP-Gribovo line and a substation are being executed and the working documentation is now being released. Permission for the preliminary work has been obtained. Preliminary work for installation of the first foundation for a HV-750 kV high-voltage line in Kalinin NPP area is being performed. At the same time, Stroytransgaz is carrying out engineering survey along the route, together with relocation of check points at 750 kV Gribovo substation site. Stroytransgaz has adopted the basic routing for HV-500 kV Gribovo-Dorokhovo line and a substation and HV-220 kV Dorokhovo-Sloboda line. The company is currently performing engineering survey and design works.
Stroytransgaz is finishing arrangement of task-force headquarters equipped with video conference facilities at Belozerskaya and Gribovo substations. Contractors have started to deliver materials at the construction sites and to construct temporary living camps. A construction camp is being built at Gribovo substation area. Temporary facilities, utility connections, and electric power supply system will be constructed in the camp.
In accordance with the project, Stroytransgaz will install 4,906 MVA of transformer capacity and 570 kilometers of high-voltage cable by 2012. The project includes 85-km long HV-500 kV Gribovo-Dorokhovo line, 500 kV Dorokhovo substation with capacity of 1,002 MVA, and 255-km long HV-750 kV Kalinin NPP-Gribovo line. An expansion of Gribovo substation with switching its voltage to 750 kV will be carried out. As a result of the reconstruction, the substation’s capacity will increase by 3,504 MVA. At the same time, Stroytransgaz will expand the existing capacity of 750 kV Belozerskaya substation, installing a 750 kV transformer with capacity of 1,251 MVA. Besides, 93-km long 220 kV Dorokhovo-Sloboda double-circuit cable overhead transmission line will be constructed.
The project will enable to substantially decrease the energy shortfall in Moscow region through delivering to the capital more than 1 GW of energy generated at the Kalinin NPP.
