Beloyarsk NPP: meeting of Deputy Chief Engineers for operation was held

Representatives of nuclear power plants and the headquarters of Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC, Kurchatov Institute Russian Scientific Centre, Intertech scientific centre of Internet technologies consulting company as well as specialists from China took part in the meeting.
At the opening of the meeting Deputy General Director of Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC – Director of Beloyarsk NPP Mikhail Bakanov specified the basis for general development of the nuclear power industry of Russia as its main topic. In the opinion of the nuclear power plant director, such events are always constructive and productive.
The participants traditionally summarized results of the NPP operation in the first half year and set the tasks for the second half of 2010. It was noted at the meeting that from January to June of the current year Rosenergoatom Concern fulfilled the power generation plan by 101.3 % of the set value. The annual plan of the Federal Tariff Service is equal to 103.6 % as compared to the similar plan for 2009 and there is good reason to believe that it will be fulfilled. Thus, Beloyarsk NPP in the first half of 2010 has already generated 145 mln kWh of electric power in excess of the plan.
This year Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC successfully conducts repairs: it is has been already completed at 16 out of 32 operating power units, 7 are undergoing repair now.
The most significant achievements of the Concern in the 1-st half year has been commencement of experimental-industrial production of new power unit No.2 at Rostov NPP and prolongation of the BN-600 power unit design life at Beloyarsk NPP. Furthermore, apart from receipt of the governmental license for operation up to 2020 the process of preparation for prolongation of BN-600 life is marked by another achievement: in the course of the preparation the unique normative and methodical basis for estimation of reactor vessel metal and internals state was created.
The nuclear scientists mentioned preparation for prolongation of design lives of power units with VVER reactors as well as increase of installed capacity of power units with VVER and RBMK reactors among the tasks for the future. Another critical target is establishment of a complex system of centralized operational planning and management of production in Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC. Based on modern IT technologies, the new system will make it possible for the “manufacturers” and the “sellers” to interact in the unified information space, to unify data exchange formats, raise effectiveness of electric power generation and sale operational planning and will be useful for integration of NPP operation experience.
Beloyarsk NPP is a branch of Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC operation all nuclear power plants of Russia. Beloyarsk NPP is the first NPP in the nuclear power industry of the country and the only one with reactors of different types at the same site. At Beloyarsk NPP the unique power unit with a fast neutron reactor of industrial power level is being operated - BN-600. The BN-800 power unit with a fast neutron reactor is being constructed. The fast neutron power units serve for substantial extension of the fuel base of the nuclear power industry and minimization of radioactive waste due to the closed nuclear fuel cycle. The first power units of Beloyarsk NPP with the АМB-100 and АМB-200 thermal reactors have outlived their usefulness.
