Every year SNPP contributes to the country electric power system at the average about 20 bln kilowatt-hours of electric power

Chairman of the Russian Federation Audit Chamber, Sergey Stepashin, Governor of Smolensk region Sergey Antufiev, Deputy General Director of Rosatom State Nuclear Energy Corporation Alexander Lokshin, member of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Nikolay Frolov, Auditor of the Russian Federation Audit Chamber Sergey Riabukhin visited Smolensk NPP. The visit was carried out within the framework of the working trip on the socio-economic development of the region.
At the meeting Director of Smolensk nuclear power plant Andrey Petrov held a presentation and informed the delegation members about the work of the largest power enterprise of the region.
When answering journalists' questions, Sergey Stepashin highly appreciated the personnel work and called Smolensk NPP a high-tech enterprise of the modern international class.
"The path that we have chosen - is absolutely true, and it is obvious that in prospect the nuclear power industry will dominate in the production of energy resources for our country and for sales abroad", the Head of the Audit Chamber said in response to the question about the necessity of Russian nuclear power industry.
The meeting ended with a visit to a temple in honor of the Mother of God icon "All Bereaved Joy". On June 5, 2010 Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill dedicated the temple.
Smolensk NPP is a branch of Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC. Every year SNPP contributes to the country electric power system at the average about 20 bln kilowatt-hours of electric power equal to almost 13% of power generated in Rosenergoatom Concern and to more than 80% of that generated by power plants of Smolensk region.
