Kola NPP: the specialists have appreciated the high level of cooperation with Finland

А representative of Impact Consulting Oy Ltd, a Finnish consulting company, worked at Kola NPP (Polyarnye Zory, Murmansk region).

Tero Lutsu, a radiation and nuclear safety specialist, evaluated efficiency of the cooperation between STUK Finnish oversight body and Kola nuclear power plant in the sphere of projects aimed at safety improvement.
Finnish Ministry of Foreign Affairs which oversees the cooperation between STUK and Russian nuclear power plants was the audit client.
In accordance with the results of the audit work Mr. Lutsu praised the professionally organized work of the Finnish agency and Kola nuclear power plant in the sphere of radiation and nuclear safety. “The results of the bilateral cooperation are impressive”, T. Lutsu said after visiting Kola NPP construction site which operates the equipment installed with the help of the Finnish colleagues. “The fact that Russian NPP workers see only advantages at cooperation with STUK is particularly impressive. It is really a high level of cooperation between Russian and Finnish Specialists.”
The audit results will be soon send to Finnish Ministry of Foreign Affairs which will give its opinion on efficiency and expediency of further cooperation between Russian nuclear scientists and Finnish regulating authorities.
Kola NPP is a branch of Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC. Kola NPP is located 200 km southwards from Murmansk on the shore of Lake Imandra. Power unit No.1 was commissioned in 1973. Currently, the plant operates 4 power units with VVER reactors. Each reactor has capacity of 440 MW. The type of reactor is VVER-440. Kola NPP supplies power for Murmansk region and Karelia.
