Beloyarsk NPP: an emergency response drill was held

The training was organized in the building of power unit No. 3 with the BN-600 fast neutron reactor.
In the course of the training heads of departments developed their fire fighting skills in the worst-case situation – energized electric equipment fire fighting in the premises without a stationary fire-extinguishing system.
Such trainings are regularly organized at Beloyarsk NPP to keep the employees and и professional firemen ready to take the right actions in case of fire.
Beloyarsk NPP is a branch of Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC operating all nuclear power plants of Russia. Beloyarsk NPP is the first NPP in the nuclear power industry of the country and the only one with reactors of different types at the same site. At Beloyarsk NPP the unique power unit with a fast neutron reactor of industrial power level is being operated - BN-600. The BN-800 power unit with a fast neutron reactor is being constructed. The fast neutron power units serve for substantial extension of the fuel base of the nuclear power industry and minimization of radioactive waste due to the closed nuclear fuel cycle. The first power units of Beloyarsk NPP with the АМB-100 and АМB-200 thermal reactors have outlived their usefulness.
