Baltic NPP: the plan for July 2010 was fulfilled by 100%

This information was provided at the regular headquarters meeting by director of Rosatom Baltic NPP construction program Dmitry Tveritinov.
It was also observed that the works were carried at 31 construction projects. Five of them have been completed: three intrasite autoroads to NPP have been built as well as the control headquarters building, construction base utilities, the territory for vegetable soils disposal has been prepared. The headquarters participants paid special attention to discussion of the measures ensuring access to the first concrete.
In August of the current year it is planned to start construction of a transportable power substation and the first stage of mortar-concrete facilities, reinforcement shop, to continue leveling for the main objects of the construction site and the foundation area for the first power unit as well as to а commence works aimed at installation of a drainage facility of the power unit nuclear island and construction of a temporary housing settlement in the territory of the construction base. All in all works to the amount of 242.83 mln rubles are to be carried out.
At present 159 units of construction and other specialized machinery and 396 people are engaged in Baltic NPP construction 335 of them being inhabitants of Kaliningrad region.
Baltic NPP was founded on February 25, 2010 in Neman district, Kaliningrad region. It is constructed in accordance with the NPP-2006 project and will consist of two power units with total capacity of 2,300 mW. The first unit is to be commissioned in 2016, and the second – in 2018. The plant is intended to provide electrical energy for Kaliningrad region and to perform the energy export. For the first time in Russian nuclear power industry private investors, including foreign ones, have been invited to participate in the project. They may acquire up to 49% of shares of BltNPP project. At present the negotiations with potential investors are being carried out.
