The Minister of external economic and international relations visited Beloyarsk NPP

Welcoming the VIP Deputy General Director of Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC – Director of Beloyarsk NPP Mikhail Bakanov told about the enterprise production activity, history and prospects. He also noted: “Beloyarsk NPP actively participates in international activity. 10 projects by the TACIS program are implemented, modern equipment is supplied and put into operation. The main ones are as follows: the plant computer network, information computation system of the BN-600 power unit and the training simulator for main control unit operators.  Two more such projects – steam valves and electric cutouts projects – are now at the stage of implementation. Further interaction with с EU implies intellectual cooperation and exchange of experience. Beloyarsk NPP is a member of the World Association of Nuclear Operators (WANO) and actively participates in its programs aimed at exchange of experience in the field of operation and performance indicators, in technical support missions and partnership chekouts”.
After excursion to operating BN-600 power unit A.V.Kharlov noted the high educational level of the personnel and production standards and turned attention to the fact that Beloyarsk NPP specialists not only operated the equipment but created their own development projects.
In Alexander Vladimirovich’s opinion, Beloyarsk NPP plays an important role in international and foreign economic sphere of the region. Nuclear technologies are in demand in the world community, last year 15 foreign delegations visited Beloyarsk NPP. Business cooperation with China in the field of fast reactors has been already improved, EU countries show interest. In the future such countries as North Africa, Egypt, Algeria may be among the partners. Development of nuclear technologies provide work load to the plants of Sverdlovsk region having significant economic impact. “Nuclear power industry is our future”, A.V.Kharlov noted.
Beloyarsk NPP is a branch of Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC operating all nuclear power plants of Russia. This is the first NPP in the nuclear power industry of the country and the only one with reactors of different types on the same site. At Beloyarsk NPP the unique power unit with a fast neutron reactor of industrial power level is being operated - BN-600. The BN-800 power unit with a fast neutron reactor is being constructed. The fast neutron power units serve for substantial extension of the fuel base of the nuclear power industry and minimization of radioactive waste due to the closed nuclear fuel cycle. The first power units of Beloyarsk NPP with the AMB-100 and AMB-200 fast neutron reactors have outlived their usefulness.
