This information was provided by Governor of Rostov region Vasily Golubev during his visit to Volgodonsk and Rostov NPP.
He visited the nuclear power plant within the framework of his working trip to cities and districts of the eastern part of the region. This was the first visit of Vasily Golubev in the capacity of the region’s Head. The Governor, accompanied by Volgodonsk and nuclear power plant administration, visited the unit control room and turbine island of the second power unit and inspected the construction site of power unit No. 3.
During the meeting with the Heads of city assets and Administration, which was held in the Public Information Centre of Rostov NPP, the Governor participated in the discussion of a set of questions, vitally important to Volgodonsk. He noted that economic matters, including investments attracting and regeneration of the city industrial complex, were almost directly connected with the activity of Rostov NPP.
The Governor also stressed that Volgodonsk is the regional leader at investments attracting, but these indicators are more than by 90% provided by the nuclear power station and construction of power units Nos. 3 and 4. According to Vasily Golubev, the availability of a big energy centre and transport infrastructure (developed in this respect) shall attract more investors to the city and region.
“I believe that availability of such large power complexes shall bring certain dividends to the constituent entity of the Federation and directly to municipal formations. We are to work it out,” said the Governor.
Within the frameworks of resolution of region economy issues, connected with Rostov NPP and construction of new power units, the Governor of Rostov region is to conduct a series of meetings with the Heads of Federal structures.
Rostov NPP is a branch of Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC. The nuclear power plant is located on the bank of the Tsimlyansk Reservoir 13.5 km far from Volgodonsk city. Power unit No.1 which was put into commercial operation in 2001, has the operated VVER-1000-type pressurized water reactor with installed capacity of 1000 MW.
The physical start-up of Power unit No 2 with the reactor of the same type was carried out in December, 2009. Power unit No 2 undergoes the stage of experimental-industrial pilot production. Power units Nos. 3 and 4 are being constructed.
