Kalinin NPP: cooling tower No.3 was erected at the construction site of the fourth power unit

The heads of Kalinin NPP, Udomlya branch of NIAEP OJSC, congratulated subcontractor organization - ForpostEnergo CJSC and contractor - Vysotnik LLC with the completion of the water work construction.
Deputy Director of Kalinin NPP Alexander Barinov said “Vysotnik is not a new company for us, we cooperated with this company during the construction of the first two cooling towers at power unit No.3. There was not the slightest doubt that the initially agreed deadline would be met. As the time showed the erection of the concrete shell of cooling tower No.3 was implemented ahead of the schedule.”
The erection of cooling towers Nos. 3 and 4 at the site of the fourth power unit of Kalinin NPP was started in the early months of 2008. The construction of cooling tower No. 4 was implemented in September, 2009.
The cooling towers with the height of 150 meters and the irrigated area of 10 thousand square meters are aimed to decrease the heat impact at cooling lakes of Kalinin NPP during further operation of power unit No.4.
Kalinin NPP is a branch of Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC. The plant is situated in the north of Tver region in Udomlya district. Kalinin nuclear power plant comprises three operating power units with pressurized water reactors (VVER-1000) of 1,000 mW capacity each. Power unit No. 4 is under construction now and is to be commissioned in 2011.
