Substation Nizhegorodskaya is located 15 km from Nizhniy Novgorod in forest zone

During the visit the delegation inspected substation 500 kV Nizhegorodskaya and also held technical meeting at the backbone electric grid entity of Nizhniy Novgorod on the issues related to operation under abnormal high temperatures and increased fire risk.
Substation 500 kV Nizhegorodskaya is located 15 km from Nizhniy Novgorod in forest zone. It is the key power supply center of the regional capital and reliable power supply of residents, enterprises and social facilities of the city with over 1.5 million of population depends on operation of the substation. During its visit the delegation focused on fire safety measures at the facility. In particular, the delegation inspected crushed zone around the substation, checked fire safety equipment status, and held fire-prevention training. After visiting substation there was a meeting held with MES of Center management on the issues related to the branch operation under condition of abnormal high temperatures and forest fire.
It shall be highlighted that in accordance with JSC FGC UES order special operation procedures for the UNEG facilities were implemented at MES of Center entities. These procedures include more often substation equipment inspections scheduled with mandatory check of refrigerating systems operation and also oil level in all oil-immersed equipment. Instant readiness of fire extinguishing equipment and fire extinction basins at substations is ensured.
Duty teams carry out more often extra inspections at power transmission lines crossing forest areas. Special attention is given to detecting and liquidating of dangerous trees and inflammable areas with dead vegetation along power transmission lines. Duty personnel at substations are fully equipped with necessary machinery, tools and protection facilities. Voluntary fire brigades watch is organized at substations composed of the entities employees and local population.
