A tactical special exercise has been held at the construction site of Beloyarsk NPP-2

The purpose of the exercise was to develop cooperation between the Department of Internal Affairs of Zarechny city district and law-enforcement bodies and security agencies on the city district territory, aimed at prevention of grave offences and felonies.
According to the exercise scenario, an organized criminal group (a maneuver enemy) using fire weapons attacked and entered power unit No.4 construction territory through the guarded perimeter and took cover in one of the buildings of the construction site.
The operation of the criminal group (maneuver enemy) apprehension was performed by the internal troops unit (military unit No.3474) using steel-armored vehicles and with the assistance of the police field service of the Department of Internal Affairs of Zarechny city, guard service of the plant power unit construction site, subdivisions of Civil Defense and Emergency Situations of Sverdlovsk region. As a result of the special operation the criminal group (maneuver enemy) was neutralized.
Summarizing the results of the exercise, Deputy Head of Operating Management Headquarters of the Main Department of Internal Affairs of Sverdlovsk region, Police Lieutenant Colonel Maleev V.F said: “During the exercise the Department of Internal Affairs of Zarechny city district of Sverdlovsk region showed readiness to perform special-forces raids in close cooperation with all field services, including the security service of the constructed NPP.”
The Management of Beloyarsk NPP-2, which is under construction, together with law enforcement bodies work on providing of an all-ranged security of the fourth power unit construction site.
The directorate of Beloyarsk NPP-2 is a branch of Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC which operates all nuclear power plants of Russia. A BN-800 fast neutron reactor is being erected at the construction site. The BN-800, together with the operated BN-600 fast neutron reactor of industrial power level is an important link for the nuclear industry development for the benefit of the country’s economy. The fast neutron power units serve for substantial extension of the fuel base of the nuclear power industry and minimization of radioactive waste due to the closed nuclear fuel cycle.
