No breakdown or emergency related to weather anomalies was registered in this period at TNK-BP’s facilities.
This remarkable result was made possible by a complex of organizational and technical measures taken by TNK-BP every year for protection of its production facilities from fire. This complex of measures includes regular audits of the fire-safety departments providing their services to company facilities, continuous advanced training of company employees during professional training courses and sessions, improvement and upgrade of the equipment of fire-safety departments and voluntary fire-fighting squads in company subsidiaries.
Just before the summer season, all production facilities of the company developed and registered their fire-safety declarations in accordance with the “Technical Fire-Safety Regulation.” Prior to the beginning of the fire-hazardous period and announcement of emergency conditions due to mass fires in many regions of the country, TNK-BP developed a number of additional measures for enhancing the fire safety of its production and service facilities such as oil depots, gas stations, production units, and refining facilities.
In spring, fine lanes were cleaned and mineralized along the power transmission lines, fire-hazardous facilities, and access roads to them and all fire-fighting equipment was checked. In the emergency period, hot works were prohibited at the most fire-hazardous facilities, their fire-safety control and patrolling were enhanced, and a moratorium was imposed on vacations of employees of fire-safety departments.
TNK-BP rendered considerable assistance to regions in their battle with fires. The company decided to lend financial support for battling fires and helping sufferers in the Ryazan, Kaluga, Nizhny Novgorod, Orenburg, and Samara Regions. In particular, TNK-BP’s funds were used for extinguishing fire and recovering the national part “Buzuluksky Bor,” which is a specially protected natural reservation of federal importance.
This year, TNK-BP will spend a total of 1.3 bln roubles for being prepared to possible emergencies.
