In June President of the fuel company Yury Olenin said that TVEL was interested in construction of plants which produced fuel for nuclear power plants, in all countries, where Russian design NPP reactor park was developing. Thus, a fuel plant may be established in India, provided that this country will construct at leas four NPP power units of Russian design. At present India, under Russian supervision, is erecting two power units of Kudankulam NPP. Olenin also said that TVEL considered a possibility of fuel plant construction in Europe.
“We have declared that we would construct (a nuclear fuel plant) in Europe,” Konstantinov said in the lobbies of London symposium of the World Nuclear Association. According to him, the Czech Republic and Slovakia are regarded as countries where such construction is possible.
“But after all, we are speaking about a European plant, because it is impossible to speak in a different way so far; we shall see where and how the nuclear industry, based on Russian technologies, will develop,” TVEL Vice President Vasily Konstantinov said.
TVEL Fuel Company is a part of Rosatom State Corporation. The principal activity of TVEL OJSC is development, production and selling (including export) of nuclear fuel as well as auxiliary nuclear and non-nuclear products.
