Leningrad NPP-2: EU nuclear scientist’s delegation visit

In the city of Sosnovy Bor (Leningrad region) and the building of Directorate of Leningrad NPP-2 under construction (a branch of Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC) there was a meeting with a group of foreign experts on severe accidents at nuclear power plants chaired by Head of EU delegation Hugon Michel.

The delegation consisted of representatives of the nuclear power industry from Belgium, Hungary, Germany, Italy, Spain, France and Switzerland as well as colleagues from the Ukraine and Kazakhstan.
In the course of the meeting Vladimir Bazlepkin, the representative of SPAEP OJSC (general contractor and designer of LNPP-2 under construction) briefed the guests on the NPP-2006 project and the course of LNPP-2 construction having given special priority to the device for core melt localization and passive heat removal systems being used at the new NPP in Leningrad region.
In the course of the meeting there was also a discussion on potential forms of cooperation between Russian nuclear scientists with European organizations for emergency processes in nuclear power plantsand a visit to Leningrad NPP-2 construction site.
