The production launch was made possible after an audit of manufacturing capacities and quality management system at Izhorskiye Zavody, conducted by JNPC specialists. After the successful audit Izhorskiye Zavody has received permission to launch the production.
The contract for the construction of the second stage of Tianwan nuclear power plant was signed between ZAO Atomstroyexport and JNPC on March 23 2010.
Izhorskiye Zavody will manufacture two VVER-1000 reactor shells with internal equipment and upper units for the second stage of Tianwan nuclear power plant. The equipment delivery is to be completed in 2014.
Izhorskiye Zavody took part in the production of main circuit equipment for the first and second units of Tianwan nuclear power plant, including nuclear reactor casings. Last September the two-year guarantee operation of the first two power units was completed. Tianwan plant, built according to the modified Russian project, is the most modern Chinese nuclear power plant in operation.
Successful experience of cooperation with the Chinese partners and equipment quality were the key factors behind the appointment of Izhorskiye Zavody as the primary equipment supplier for the second stage of Tianwan power plant.
