Work of the Operation center is lead by the Russian Minister of Energy Sergey Shmatko. The session was participated by the Russian Deputy Minister of Energy Andrey Shishkin, Chairman of JSC FGC UES Management Board Oleg Budargin, heads of energy companies engaged in construction of energy facilities in Sochi region, and also representatives from the Organizational Committee Sochi-2014 and the Administration of Krasnodar Territory and contractor organizations.
Before the session the participants visited a number of energy facilities of JSC FGC UES – substations 110 kV Laura, Rose Khutor, Imeretinskaya, Ice Palace.
FGC UES carry out designing, constructing and redeveloping of 21 electric grid facilities in Sochi region intended for power supply for 2014 Winter Olympic Games in Sochi. All the works are carried out strictly in accordance with the approved time schedule.
In 2009 in Sochi region the following facilities were built: substation 220 kV Poselkovaya having transformer capacity of 170 MVA and power transmission line 220 kV Psou – Poselkovaya having length of 46.8 km. They became the first facilities for power supply to resort settlement Krasnaya Polyana – the main location where 2014 Olympic Games will take place. Also last year the Federal Grid Company put into operation power transmission line 220 kV Dagomys – Psou overhangs to Sochi TPP.
Construction works are currently completed at substations 110 kV Laura and Rose Khutor having aggregated capacity of 160 MVA. Works are under way at substations 110 kV Imeretinskaya, Ice Palace, Mzymta; distribution networks 10 kV are under construction to provide for power supply to winter sports resort “Rosa Khutor”. New facilities will get power supply from substation 220 kV Psou capacity of which by the end of 2010 will increase from 300 MVA to 40 MVA in the result of reconstruction. In order to connect substations with each other and other generating units (Adler TPP, Dzhubga TPP and Kudepsta TPP) it is planned to build about 100 km of cable and overhead power transmission lines.
In the course of constructing of the “Olympic: power facilities JSC FGC UES widely apply innovative technical solutions. New substations will be connected with underground cables with insulation made of cross-linked polyethylene – eco-friendly, safe and reliable in operation. Use of SF6 switchgear and control gear (SF6 SGCG) will enable significant reducing of substation area, making their operation free of noise. Compact indoor space where SF6 SGCG is installed eliminates environmental impact of the equipment and also protects the equipment from external factor impact. In addition new substations are equipped with automated field control systems and vision-based inspection systems.
