Smolensk NPP: the target for September has been exceeded by 48 mln kWh

At present the second and the third power units of Smolensk NPP are in operation. The aggregate capacity is 2,045 MW. No deviations in the equipment operation have been detected.
Power unit No. 1 is under scheduled overhaul. All works are being performed according to the schedule. In the course of the overhaul assembly channels, special systems, equipment having exhausted its potential will be replaced, and engineering structures of the premises will be reinforced. Execution of modernization work package is to ensure safe operation of the power unit for not less than 15 years in exceed of the target design period.
The radiation background at Smolensk NPP industrial site and in the adjacent territory is not changed and corresponds to the natural environmental values.
Smolensk NPP is a branch of Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC. Every year SNPP contributes to the country electric power system at the average about 20 bln kilowatt-hours of electric power equal to almost 13% of power generated in Rosenergoatom Concern and to more than 80% of that generated by the power plants of Smolensk region.
