TNK-BP to Equip Vehicle Fleet with Monitoring Systems

Октября 11, 2010

TNK-BP will complete equipment of its vehicle fleet with on-board monitoring systems (OBMS) by the end of 1Q 2011, which will permit substantial optimization of the transportation costs and reduction of the accident rate.

The OBMS that are used to register the key running parameters such as the speed, acceleration, braking, mileage, and travel time will be installed in TNK-BP and contractor vehicles carrying people and hazardous cargoes on an obligatory basis in 2010.
TNK-BP adopted a new revision of the Technical Standard on Transportation Safety in 2010, which must be observed by company contractors whose total fleet is in excess of 12,000 vehicles including fuel trucks, buses, cars, special vehicles and truck-based road construction equipment.
The installation of the high-tech equipment would allow creating a single system to analyze and manage TNK-BP-owned transport fleet that has in excess of 2,000 vehicles and the transport fleet owned by the contractors.
“The transportation safety standards adopted by TNK-BP conform to the best international practices. The monitoring systems allow not just reducing transportation costs but also increasing the level of employee safety, which provides an economic effect that is incommensurable with expenditures for the new equipment”, said Gleb Lyuksemburg, Vice President, Health Safety and Environment.
