In his opening speech head of the project – Director of NIAEP OJSC Valery Limarenko noted: “We proved ourselves to be a company which is able to perform constructions within the exactly fixed time; that is why we will continue to pay special attention to timely provision of contractors with design and estimate documentation (DED). This will help to perform all the works on power unit construction in accordance with the approved subject schedule.”
In his turn, Director of Rostov NPP Capital Construction Management (CCM) Alexander Palamarchuk said that October is a month of transition from construction to installation. “Heads of heat installation and wiring organizations shall prepare a field of operations. The construction priorities remain the same – quality and deadlines,” he stressed.
According to him, in September all works were implemented in accordance with the schedule. In October it is planned to concrete contour and interior walls from the 6.600 mark up to the 10.800 mark to the 100% extent and install a ceiling at the 13.200 mark to the 100% extent in power unit No.3 reactor compartment; to install metal structures of turbine house frame to the extent of 175 tons, concrete the superstructure of turbine unit foundation to the 55% extent in the engine room of power unit No.3; to perform works at evaporative cooling tower and power unit No.4 reactor compartment.
When discussing the issue of compliance with equipment supply schedule, the participants paid special attention to observance of equipment integration deadlines. This problem was got under special control and schedule compliance will be monitored on a weekly basis.
According to the tradition, the headquarters discussed issues related to safety measures organization at the construction site. There was made a decision to introduce supplements to the agreements with contactors: in case of violation of safety and health regulations at the construction site a contract with the offending enterprise will be suspended till re-evaluation of enterprise’s heads and complete elimination of failures.
“This is a pan-European standard, all foreign companies work this way, and in this field we shall follow the example of the best world experience,” Alexander Palamarchuk said.
Rostov NPP is a branch of Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC. The nuclear power plant is located on the bank of the Tsimlyansk Reservoir 13.5 km far from Volgodonsk city. Power unit No.2 which was put into commercial operation in 2001 has the operated VVER-1000-type pressurized water reactor with installed capacity of 1,000 MW.
The physical start-up of power unit No 2 with the reactor of the same type was carried out in December, 2009. Power unit No 2 undergoes the stage of experimental-industrial pilot production. Power units Nos. 3 and 4 are being constructed.
