Valery Gulyev (General Manager of Gazprom zarubezhneftegaz) and Edward Shevchenko (Deputy General Manager for International Collaboration) took part in the negotiations on the Russian side.
In developing previous contacts (in particular, the negotiations which took place during Mr. Sendic's visit to Moscow in January 2010), discussion continued concerning the long-term prospects for collaboration between Gazprom zarubezhneftegaz and ANCAP, including the possible participation of Gazprom zarubezhneftegaz in hydrocarbon development and production projects on Uruguyan territory and third countries, and also the organising of the transit of ANCAP specialists on internships at Gazprom's plants in Russia and abroad.
The parties agreed to re-establish contact with each other very soon.
Uruguay's national fuel, spirit and cement administration, (Administracion Nacional de Combustibles, Alcohol y Portland - ANCAP) - the state oil-and-gas company - was created in 1931; it currently holds the monopoly in the country for the production and processing of oil, gas and biofuels, and it also possesses a significant part of the market for sugar, cement and fertiliser. The company's annual turnover amounts to around $3 billion. From March 2010, ANCAP has been headed up by Mr. Sendic, who formerly held the post of Energy Minister in Uruguay.
Gazprom zarubezhneftegaz is a 100%-owned subsidiary of Gazprom and represents its interests in a number of hydrocarbon deposit exploration and development projects and the construction of oil and gas production projects abroad.
Projects for hydrocarbon resource exploration and prospecting on the Vietnam and Indian shelves are making the most active progress, as well as geological exploration work in the Republics of Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Kirgirzia.
