The plant is owned by the Joint-Stock Company TGC-1. The booster compressor station will supply fuel gas for the gas turbines GTE-160 of the Power Machines Open Joint-Stock Company (Power Machines OJSC) production plant. The commissioning of the new equipment will increase the capacity of the plant by 450 MW.
The new BCS equipment includes 3 centrifugal compressors with a total capacity of 11.5 MW Commissioning is scheduled for December 2010.
Alexandra Bocharova, CEO of Premium Engineering Ltd says, “Our company is giving this project priority status. We are fully aware of that St.Petersburg is in urgent need of increasing its energy capacity. The commissioning of the station opens new perspectives in terms of developing the economy of the city and is a crucial component of the plan of our partner TGC-1 to compensate for the current power deficit.”
The project will be implemented within the framework of a decree issued by the St. Petersburg government concerning the completion of the 2nd priority construction which is aimed at expanding the combined heat power plant No. 5 Krasniy Oktyabr which has an interesting history: it pioneered the State Commission for Electrification of Russia (GOELRO) plan. Now, after almost 90 years of operation, one of the oldest power plants in Russia has been decommissioned earlier this year, in May 2010.
The Pravoberezhnaya Central Heating and Power Plant has become solely responsible for providing heat and light to the residents of the Nevskiy and Krasnogvardeyskiy districts of St. Petersburg.
