Smolensk NPP is ready for operation in the autumn and winter period

The members of the commission noted accurate and timely 100% execution of the planned measures aimed at preparation of the nuclear power plant for operation in winter. They emphasized the perfect condition of the buildings, structures of the territory of the plant, well-organized planning and repair activity and other pluses in the NPP operation.
Summarizing the results, Chairman of the commission, Deputy Director of Rosenergoatom Concern Inspection and control department Alexander Yevchuk said: “I am strongly convinced that Smolensk NPP will successfully cope with the winter, it’s ready for operation in the autumn and winter period.”
The plant inspection certificate has been signed. The total results of preparedness of the Russian NPPs will be summarized  in the first half of November, 2010.
Smolensk NPP is a branch of Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC. Every year SNPP contributes to the country electric power system at the average about 20 bln kilowatt-hours of electric power equal to almost 13% of power generated in Rosenergoatom Concern and to more than 80% of that generated by the power plants of Smolensk region.
