The visit was primarily aimed at acquaintance with Russian experience in the field of construction and operation of NPPs with pressurized water reactors (VVER-1000). The delegation members examined power units of the first KNPP stage, the turbine hall and unit control room of power unit No.3 as well as the construction site of power unit No.4
After that guests met the enterprise authorities in the Public Information Centre, where KNPP Chief Engineer Mikhail Kanyshev told them in details about plant operation and answered numerous questions.
In his turn Le Dinh Tien noted: “In Vietnam the program of first nuclear power plant construction has been started, that is why we highly appreciate technologies, developed in your country, and the long-term experience of nuclear power plants construction and operation. In olden times the USSR trained many Vietnamese specialists in the field of NPP operation and today we shall take from you more knowledge, high technologies and experience.”
He thanked Kalinin nuclear plant authorities for provided opportunity to visit the enterprise with the information excursion and for exhaustive information about NPP operation.
Kalinin NPP is a branch of Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC. The plant is situated in the north of Tver region in Udomlya district. Kalinin nuclear power plant comprises three operating power units with pressurized water reactors (VVER-1000) of 1,000 mW capacity each. Power unit No. 4 is under construction now and is to be commissioned in 2011.
