Kursk NPP: excursion to the nuclear power plant of Kurchatov City Duma deputies

Kurchatov deputies learnt about the operation Kursk NPP, the largest enterprise of the nuclear sector in the Central Black Earth Belt, having visited one of the operating power units of the plant. They visited the central and the powerhouse hall, the unit and dosimetry control rooms.
As Chairman of Kurchatov City Duma Igor Korpunkov noted, the city deputies themselves put forward the initiative to organize an excursion to Kursk NPP. “The people’s representative for the most part live and work in Kurchatov, a city of nuclear scientists, but they’ve never been at the township-forming enterprise,” he said. “The deputies from among the NPP employees, in spite of the fact that they perfectly know the plant, readily decided to visit the main production departments of the enterprise once more. It’s important also because of the fact that the city and the plant are the unified whole, and only due to such close cooperation it’s possible to choose the correct information and social policy.”
Senior shift engineer of Kursk NPP Vasily Zubov demonstrated to the visitors operation of the complex and unique plant equipment, and specialists of the unit control room, reactor and turbine departments answered the numerous questions.
The deputies also learnt some information concerning the nuclear power industry in Russia and in the world having visited the expositions of Kursk NPP Public Information Centre.
The excursions to Kursk NPP and PIC have made a good impression on the deputies.
