Initial assessments indicate the existence of high-quality 34 degree API oil at a flow rate of approximately 7,000 barrels per day. The productivity was restricted to the limited capacity of the surface facilities.
This is the second discovery made in this block. The first, called Mpungi-1, was also announced in October by means of the drilling of the Mpungi-1 well, situated 120 km off the Angolan coast, in water depths of 1,050 meters, and nestled at a total depth of 2,300 meters. Initial production tests indicated a flow rate greater than 6,000 barrels.
The block is operated by Eni (35%), in partnership with Petrobras (5%), Sonangol Pesquisa e Produção (15%), SSI Fifteen Limited (20%), Total (15%), Falcon Oil Holding Angola SA (5%), and Statoil Angola Block 15/06 Award SA (5%).
