Kalinin NPP: power unit N.4 –reactor check assembly is to be held

Representatives of customer – Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC, general contractor – NIAEP OJSC and subcontractors discussed the state of affairs at the construction site.
The meeting participants in details discussed the results of October plan implementation. According to Director of NIAEP OJSC Udomlya branch I.V.Kruuz, in October the plan of construction and installation works was implemented by 102% and equipment disbursement amounted to 101%.
Director of NIAEP OJSC V.I. Limorenko announced the main objectives for the near future: reactor check assembly and spillage to open reactor. During the last operation there will be checked the working efficiency of safety system centers and mechanisms. Upon completion of this procedure there will be started robustness and leak testing of the sealed enclosure system.
V.I. Limarenko drew the attention of all construction participants to the necessity of implementation of assumed obligations in respect to compliance with the power unit construction network schedule. “There are not so many industry sectors in Russia, which are able to meet competition,” the project director said. “Nuclear power engineering is one of them. Our objective is to do everything possible to survive this competition. “Kalinin-4” is an important step in this fight.”
Kalinin NPP is a branch of Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC. The plant is situated in the north of Tver region in Udomlya district. Kalinin nuclear power plant comprises three operating power units with pressurized water reactors (VVER-1000) of 1,000 mW capacity each. Power unit No. 4 is under construction now and is to be commissioned in 2011.
