The Memorandum was signed by the Kazakhstan party – Chief Executive Officer of “Samruk-Kazyna” JSC Kelimbetov K.N., the China party - Chairman of the Board of Directors Datang Liu Shunda.
The project development of renewable energy sources (RES) in Kazakhstan will allow producing ecologically clean, so-called “Green energy”. In addition, the implementation of these projects will expand the volumes of the production sphere in the form of component parts and mechanisms that even today can be produced in the Kazakhstan enterprises, additionally create new workplaces, increase an investment attraction of Kazakhstan.
Along with the planned joint implementation of the projects on renewable energy projects in the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Fund and Datang are establishing joint working groups which after a comprehensive study will make proposals for development of projects on coal gasification and deployment of these technologies at the power plants burning this fuel in Kazakhstan. The use of these technologies will significantly reduce a negative impact of coal-fired power plants on the environment.
Since 2008 Datang has been studying the potentially attractive sites for construction of wind electric plant (WEP) in Kazakhstan. The most investigated site is “Chilik Corridor” in Almaty region. On this site Datang placed an anemometer tower and since May 2008 has been collecting data that are necessary to implement projects.
China Datang Corporation is one of the largest generating companies in China which is directly under the State Council of PRC. In 2009 Datang for the first time entered into the list of 500 major companies in the world - Fortune Global 500, in which currently occupies the 412th place. Datang subsidiaries are listed at the stock markets of China and London.
In 2009 the Datang total generating capacity exceeded 100 thousands mW. At that more than 18% (> 18 thousands MW) are for renewable energy, including the capacity of all Datang wind plants is equal to 3 430 MW.
Datang has an experience in the implementation of international projects: two blocks of hydroelectric power plants with the capacity of 60 mW were put into operation in Myanmar; HPP project (120 mW) in Kampuchea is under the construction. In addition, the investment projects in the electric sector of the countries of South-East Asia, Africa and CIS are on the preliminary work’s stage.
